Designer - Chris Eckersley

Chris Eckersley

“I'm interested in good proportions, well-crafted design that has longevity, and working with traditional British craftsmen and women. The Made by the Forge Project is exactly the sort of collaboration that I find exciting...”

Designer Chris Eckersley is from Birmingham, and studied sculpture at Gloucestershire College of Art, graduating in 1974. Later he went on to complete an MA in Design at Central St Martins, where he became a Visiting Tutor for many years. During a career spanning four decades, Eckersley has produced many successful designs.

His varied work ranges from one-off bespoke commissions for individual clients here and in the United States, to designs for batch production for manufacturers and retailers such as Heal’s, the Conran Shop, John Lewis, Lloyd Loom, and Liberty. Eckersley received The Prince’s Medal from HRH The Prince of Wales at the V&A Classic Design Awards in 2002, and more recently a Design Guild Mark from The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers. Chris Eckersley is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
