The Grand Cannonball finial, 25mm iron curtain pole

One of two new finials for our 25mm Straight Curtain Pole Range, the Grand Cannonball makes a statement with its size alone. Looking more like its original inspiration, the Grand Cannonball is a contemporary finial with its smooth lines that always look striking.

Your windows will look amazing when you have this handmade wrought iron curtain pole installed. Look closely at the detail of the finials and you will see the hammer marks still visible from the forging process. More »

Measuring up

Measuring for a straight curtain pole is a simple job and requires just three quick steps:

  1. Firstly, where is the pole going to go? Stand back, look at the window, and check that there are no beams, light switches, or fittings in the way of a straight mount above the window. One option, if there are obstructions, is our Recess Curtain Pole and brackets. As our curtain poles are all handmade to order, we can also create a bespoke solution just for you.

Ideally, the pole should be mounted 15cm above the top of the window. If you have a low ceiling, mount it halfway between the ceiling and the top of the window.
  2. Measure the width of your window. Remember to measure in centimetres.
  3. For the drawbacks (the area where the curtain hangs when drawn back), we recommend 10% of the width of the window. Just divide the window width by 10. This is added to the pole's overall length. If you have thicker/heavier curtains, add one or two centimetres to allow for the additional thickness.

Reviews

Thanks again for the speedy delivery, we are delighted with the pole and will mention you again once we have our cottage in the Yorkshire Dales up and running. We have a ram’s horn pole there, a Cannonball and also a handrail for the staircase. Delighted with everything..

Attached is a photo of the fitted pole. We wanted to test out one first to ensure it was what we were looking for and we now have another 7 downstairs windows to finish in this style. We haven't yet decided on the tie backs/window furniture which we will do when all the poles / curtains are completed.

We like the way the straightness of the pole and the cannon ball finials emphasise the curvature of the rather old ceiling! .

I just wanted to share with you a picture of the curtain rails we put up over the bank holiday weekend.

We are so happy with the purchase. The quality is amazing, they were delivered quickly and they are the perfect fit for our gothic windows.

We will definitely be buying from you guys again :)
