The Levington Finial - A Unique Button Finial

Our Levington 16mm curtain pole features a distinctive button finial, composed of three stacked, button-like forms that create an elegant, sculpted silhouette. This provides a slightly ‘chunkier’ feel than our conventional Button finials, whilst also serving its primary function of preventing curtain rings from slipping off the pole. This design is, as far as we can tell, completely unique to Made by the Forge and the blacksmiths who conceived it. . More »

Product description

All of our curtain poles and finials are lovingly handcrafted and forged by our expert blacksmiths at our UK forge. A closer look will reveal unique patterns of indentations, formed by hammer marks during the forging process. This means that every curtain pole and finial is different, bursting with personality and charm.

Each of our products comes with a lifetime guarantee and enhances any window space with a blend of the classic and contemporary, with quality assured to match.

Enhance your window space with a set of matching, hand-made Curtain Holdbacks from our complete range. They are available with your choice of finial.

When your order arrives, you’ll find your new curtain pole, finials, mounting brackets and curtain rings you’ve ordered as well as the screws needed to secure the bracket, so you can get your new curtain pole up without delay.

We’ve decided to name each of our new range of 16mm finials after places that are all part of the Made by the Forge story and places where we have planted trees.

The Levington finial is named after the Levington Lagoon Nature reserve, which the Suffolk Wildlife Trust looks after on behalf of Suffolk Yacht Harbour Ltd. Its shape is somewhat reminiscent of a marine buoy.

A new belt of trees was planted to soften the edge between grassland and woodland and increase habitat diversity. The Trust hoped this new habitat would attract whitethroat, blackcap and other warblers.

Measuring up

Measuring for a straight curtain pole is a simple job and requires just three quick steps:

  1. Firstly, where is the pole going to go? Stand back, look at the window, and check that there are no beams, light switches, or fittings in the way of a straight mount above the window. One option, if there are obstructions, is our Recess Curtain Pole and brackets. As our curtain poles are all handmade to order, we can also create a bespoke solution just for you.

Ideally, the pole should be mounted 15cm above the top of the window. If you have a low ceiling, mount it halfway between the ceiling and the top of the window.
  2. Measure the width of your window. Remember to measure in centimetres.
  3. For the drawbacks (the area where the curtain hangs when drawn back), we recommend 10% of the width of the window. Just divide the window width by 10. This is added to the pole's overall length. If you have thicker/heavier curtains, add one or two centimetres to allow for the additional thickness.

Reviews

I'm really pleased with my curtain pole. It's just what I wanted, really nice quality and very good service. I've attached a photo too.

I'm really pleased with the curtain poles, thank you. They look stunning. The natural beeswax look is gorgeous and I like that it's a more eco-friendly choice. I'm attaching some photos.

The curtain poles are beautifully made and look great. Well worth the money and the wait to have them made to measure. We ordered from you about four years ago but have recently moved and had to leave them behind as they wouldn’t fit in the new place ( the buyers were extremely pleased!). I wouldn’t buy from anyone else.
